Charming Expressions is an innovative new form of party entertainment. Charming Expressions was started by two San Diego based event planners who are always looking for unique and different forms of party activities. People are always asking for “something different”, and we decided to join forces to create some new and interesting party fun! Entertaining multi-generations is always a challenge as well as keeping the interest of the Bar and Bat Mitzvah young adults. They go to this type of party every weekend, and the new activities keep the fun going!
Lydia Krasner
Lydia Krasner, owner of Mitzvah Event Productions and co-owner of Charming Expressions, has been creating and orchestrating extraordinary events in the San Diego area since 1995. She holds degrees in photography and in Art Education, and has an extensive background in theater, lighting, and design. Lydia began her creative career as a Judaic Art teacher and director, and for 18 years dedicated herself to educating her students. Then, over a decade ago, when asked if she could “make the room pretty” for a Synagogue fundraiser, she jumped at the opportunity. The rest, as they say, is history. She quickly made a name for herself within the community as the “Bar/Bat Mitzvah Baleboste”… and an event planning business was born.
Lydia considers her Judaic education a great asset and truly enjoys sharing her knowledge with the event planning community through speaking engagements at seminars and conventions and through her membership in several industry associations. Since 2005, Lydia has been a featured annual speaker at the International Special Event Convention. She is one of the founding members and currently a Co- President of BESA, the San Diego Bar and Bat Mitzvah Association. She is also a committee member for “The Celebration for the Critters” at the San Diego Zoo, which raises funds for Conservation and Research for Endangered Species. She has voluntarily assisted with décor and fund raising for over 25 Temple events and is currently the co-producer of the Hearst Elementary Fall Festival, a school fund raiser which brings in over 750 people every year. Lydia’s business Mitzvah Event Productions executes an average of over 40 events each year, and as an event planner, she is known for her creativity, organization, and tremendous attention to detail. “Love is in the details.”
Sherrill Kinsler
Sherrill Kinsler brings over 20 years experience to the event world. Sherrill is the owner of San Diego, CA based Behind The Scenes Event Co, a full service event management company, co-owner of Charming Expressions, a new and unique party entertainment company, and is a Past President and Co-Founder of BESA – The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Event Services Association. Sherrill started her career working for a Fortune 500 Company, planning meetings, special events, and expos, and has been awing clients with her events ever since. Her experience ranges from small intimate events for 10 people to large scale corporate events and expos for over 5,000 people with everything in between.
With a solid background, she left the corporate world to start her own event company. Sherrill then decided to expand her horizons. Sherrill loves themes parties and puts fun and wow into every event! When she is not busy planning awesome events, she’s working on new and innovative event ideas.
Sherrill stays quite active in the Special Events industry. She holds a certificate in Meeting and Special Event Planning, is an ABC certified Bridal Consultant and President and Co-Founder of BESA, The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Event Services Association. She teaches Hospitality classes at a local community college, is an annual speaker at the Special Event Convention, frequently attends seminars and workshops to stay current in the industry, and belongs to multiple special event associations. She is also an ongoing member of the planning committee for the San Diego Zoological Society’s annual fundraiser “Celebration for the Critters” which raises monies for Conservation and Research of Endangered Species, Legacy for Life, which creates awareness and celebrates cancer survivors and annually produces San Diego’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah Expo and Showcase.
